Night to Unite / Block Parties

Night to Unite banner

Good News! We are observing Night to Unite 2021 as planned on Tuesday, August 3, 2021. Night to Unite is a time for neighbors and neighborhoods to come together, get to know one another and build a stronger community. Strong communities are safe communities. Each year we invite and encourage neighbors to observe Minnesota Night to Unite by holding block parties and neighborhood get-togethers and we would love to be a part of your Night to Unite celebration. Use the link below to invite Public Safety staff and vehicles to visit your party.

The last day to request Night to Unite visits was July 23 and have filled all of our availability.   Thank you so much for considering inviting Public Safety to your Night to Unite parties.

On Night to Unite, we will be collecting grocery gift cards, Target and Walmart gift cards and fuel-only cards. These cards will provide much needed resources to families in need throughout South Washington County.  Public Safety staff can collect those when they visit your party but d
onated cards can also be dropped off at Public Safety, 2100 Radio Dr, Monday - Friday 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Can we block off our street for our Night to Unite celebration or a Block Party?
It's important to remember that some roadways in Woodbury cannot be blocked off in anyway to impede the flow of traffic. Use the link below to search if your location.

  1. In the upper left hand corner of the map, enter the house number closest to the location of your block party and select the correct address from the drop-down options that will appear.
  2. If the map shows the roadway is green,  you are allowed to place temporary barriers during your party (see note below).
  3. If the roadway is red in color, blocking off the roadway is prohibited.

Note:  If your street allows for it and you choose to cordon off any portion, barriers must be placed as such to allow for emergency vehicles and residents needing access to the area.

Block Parties and Special Events
Block Parties are a great way for neighbors to get to know each other and to build community anytime. Requests for Public Safety attendance on dates other than Night to Unite should be requested at least two weeks prior to your event and will be evaluated on a case by case basis. Staff will confirm availability five days before your event.  Please do not use the link below to request a Night to Unite visit (the link for Night to Unite visit requests will be added if/when available).
