Construction - Lobby and Field House - 11.5.13Woodbury uses a combination permit. Separate permits will only be required on jobs where there is no related combination building permit.
The Inspections Division is conducting as much
business as possible through non-contact, digital options.
Commercial Applications shall be submitted via email at building@woodburymn.gov
Residential Applications shall be submitted through our online Permitting Portal.
Electric permits shall be submitted via email or snail mail. 

The issuance of building permits and related inspections may be modified, delayed or suspended given the current circumstances. Please give us a call if you have any questions, as our procedures may change frequently.

The Building Inspections Division is responsible for the application and enforcement of the building code and related ordinances regulating construction, alterations and the use of buildings within the city.

Building Permits are required for many building projects, including new construction, additions, structural changes, decks, finished basements, pools, demolition, roofing, siding, and window replacement. Many projects require a plan review. Permit fees are paid at the time the permit is issued.

Effective June 1, 2017, electrical inspections are required on all siding jobs.
Visit the MN Department of Labor and Industry website for information regarding electrical inspections and siding projects.

What time do inspections take place?

Morning inspections are typically a window between 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. - Call by 9 a.m.
Afternoon inspections are typically a window between 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. - Call by 1 p.m.
Inspections are conducted on site, or virtually via FaceTime or Google Duo.

Electrical inspections shall be called in by 9 a.m. for a same-day inspection. 
Electrical inspections are typically a window between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
Electric inspections are conducted on site.

Contractors must have a current state license on file with the city.
